About us
Care with a personal touch
Hands on Hand Home Care was created from a simple belief: people are happiest where they are – at home.
Based in Teignbridge, Newton Abbot, we’re a small, friendly team providing home care with a genuine personal touch. We take time to really get to know every person we support – their story, routines, likes and dislikes – so care never feels rushed or “routine”, but warm, familiar and centred around them.
How it all began
Our founder, Charlie Maunder, started working in domiciliary care on 14 March 2020. In just 18 months, he progressed from part-time carer to senior supervisor, also becoming a:
-
First Aid Trainer
-
Moving & Handling Trainer
-
Medication Awareness Trainer
Drawing on previous experience as a debt collector, Charlie also took on responsibility for data protection, all while still doing the part of the job he loved most – visiting customers in their own homes and making a real difference to their day.
On 9 May 2022, Charlie decided to follow his heart and launch Hands on Hand Home Care – a local service focused on giving back to the community and supporting people who just need that little bit of extra help to stay independent.
Since then, his partner and daughter have joined the business, turning it into a truly family-run service with one clear priority:
our customers are at the heart of everything we do.
Our values
-
Personal – We treat every person as an individual, not a task list. We listen, adapt and work in a way that feels right for them.
-
Respectful – Dignity comes first. Whether it’s personal care, housework or a cup of tea and a chat, we always work with kindness and discretion.
-
Reliable – From Chudleigh to Buckfastleigh and Totnes to Kingsteignton, we provide care 7am–10pm, 7 days a week, so help is there when you need it.
-
Safe & professional – We hold enhanced DBS checks, £5 million PA insurance, strong references and ongoing training to keep our standards high.
More than just care
As the service has grown, so have the ways we can help. Today, Hands on Hand Home Care also offers:
-
Our own mobility vehicle – giving people extra freedom to attend appointments, go shopping or simply enjoy a trip out.
-
A partnership with World of Mobility in Newton Abbot – helping customers access a wide range of mobility products.
-
A home organisation and decluttering partner service across South Devon – creating safer, calmer and easier-to-manage homes.
-
Ongoing support and fundraising for Dementia UK, a charity very close to our hearts.
What this means for you
Choosing care is a big decision. With Hands on Hand Home Care, you’re not just getting a rota of carers – you’re gaining a small, consistent team who:
-
Know you and your family by name
-
Understand what matters most to you
-
Turn up with a smile and take the time to do things properly
If you’d like to learn more about us or talk through what kind of support might help, we’re always happy to chat.
